Experience

Dr. Despina Tzoulaki holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, a PhD from the University of Leipzig in Germany and an MBA from Alba Graduate Business School. She has over 17 years of combined experience as a scientist and energy consultant. Despina had a long-lasting career in R&D abroad, including profound research in mass transfer phenomena, catalysis and diffusion of gases (including hydrogen) at the Technical University of Munich (Germany), UC Berkeley (CA, USA) and Catalysis Centre for Energy Innovation (DE, USA), prior to moving to the industry and joining Haldor Topsoe (Denmark), a global leader in catalysis and process technology.

Upon her return to Greece in 2017, Dr. Tzoulaki started working as an energy consultant focusing on aspects related to renewable and low-carbon gases and fuels, with a focus on hydrogen and hydrogen-derived fuels. All in all, Despina is a versatile expert with deep understanding of industrial processes, as well as of policies and regulations. Despina's portfolio of developed projects includes assignments from international donors (e.g. EC, EIB, EBRD, Clean Hydrogen JU, GIZ, RSB, etc.), as well as from major players in the Greek energy market.
